Hey! My name is Kyle Kovach, and this is my blog for my Senior Research Project, Totally Radical: Creating an Old-Fashioned Videogame with Modern Spunk. Throughout my life, I have loved to play videogames, and have always had an interest in how they are designed, on both the coding level and on the level design level. Because of this, when I was offered the opportunity to complete a project where I would code my own videogame with one of my closest friends, Alex Popescu, and under the mentorship of Mark Vange, the old Chief Technical Officer of EA, I immediately accepted. Over the course of my project, Alex and I will be coding a platformer called FROBOT in HTML (with Alex focusing on the art design and I focusing on the level design). What makes our design project unique is that we will be able to post the newest version of the game every week with our blog updates, and attain user feedback. This will allow us to adapt the design to user demand, the focus of my research question.
